Logan had his first soccer game today, and he scored his first goal! For a while, I wasn't even sure if he would get any field time. My poor little guy seems to have a bit of anxiety. We got to the game about an hour early (I am the team manager so I wanted to be there in case there were any problems for the team). Logan and I kicked the ball around to warm up. He was doing great. Then we moved to our field and all of his teammates started showing up along with the other team. Logan started freaking out. Next thing I knew he was hysterically crying and holding my neck for dear life. We sat on the side line and watched the other kids for the 1st period. Then I got his ear plugs out of my purse and that seemed to help him calm down a bit more. I think all the parents yelling was getting to him a bit. By 1/2 time, I got him calmed down and pumped up enough to try to go on the field. He went in, he wasn't happy about it, but he went in. After a bit more crying on the field, he got the ball and drove it down the field right into the goal!!! Our team won 13 to 4 even though we are not supposed to be keeping score. Logan kept telling me "I feel really scared on the inside". What is a mom to do? Hopefully he will get a bit more confidence with each game and it will get better through the season.

Way to go Logan! Laura, I totally understand how you feel! Noah gets like that in new situations sometimes too. It's so hard to know when to push them beyond the comfort zone. Hopefully he'll run out on the field and be excited for the next game!
But he looks so cute in his uniform!!! Way to go Logan!! SCORE!!!
