Jim and I had a "date night" last weekend. We went to Gallagher's in Waterloo, IL for dinner. We have eaten there before and loved it and we were both really, really looking forward to eating there again. Of course, that is a set up for failure right there! When you are really excited about something, somehow you always get disappointed... well, NOT THE CASE!!!

OH MY GOD was the food and service AWESOME!!!!!!!!! Jim ordered a steak with their peppercorn sauce, a baked potato (which was the size of a nerf football) and cavatelli pasta in white sauce. I ordered a steak (modiga style) with asparagus and a side salad. Both of our steaks were cooked perfectly, my asparagus was to die for. I actually ate all of my asparagus before I even touched my steak LOL! Jim was just awestruck by the size and taste of his baked potato but the icing on the cake was Jim's cavatelli. WOWOWOWOWOW! I was sneaking bites of it off of his plate. I couldn't get enough - I think they put some type of illegal drug in it to make me addicted! J/K!

I know I bragged in an earlier post about being able to dissect a recipe and duplicate it but this one has got me stumped! I can not figure out what was in that white sauce that made it so dang good. If I figure it out, I will be sure to let you know, but as of right now, it is a mystery!

This place comes HIGHLY recommended. If you are planning to try it out, let me know and I will meet you there! I can not wait to go back again!!! Oh, and if you are in the mood for an "adult beverage" please, try the Gallagher punch. Soooooooooooooo yummy!!!
